“There is growing recognition here in New York, and around the country, that great local reporting is essential to thriving, equitable communities. A diverse mix of philanthropy, reader and earned revenue is essential to building and sustaining the institutions that can deliver it,” said THE CITY’s Executive Director, Nic Dawes.

“Beth brings exceptional experience and a deep commitment to this role, and we are thrilled to have her on the leadership team,” Dawes said.

Since its founding in 2019, THE CITY has emerged as the newsroom holding power to in NYC and empowering its residents to take action. Its service journalism has helped thousands of New Yorkers to vote, participate in civic life and make sense of the greatest city in the world.
